2023 Schedule of Events

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Kamakakehau was adopted by Robyn Naeʻole and brought to the shores of Maui, Hawaiʻi. It is here that his new family and home shaped “Kamaka” into one of Hawaiʻi’s newest and most refreshing talents.

Hawaiʻi’s Kalei Gamiao, the finest of our “next generation” of ʻukulele virtuosos, is a captivating musical journey of superb originals and formidable pop favorites. 

 Renowned for her exceptional ʻukulele skills, Brittni Paiva is a multi-award-winning instrumentalist with millions of hits on YouTube and global recognition in world music circles. Her stunning articulation of the instrument has earned her a place in the trend of the ʻukulele's resurgence in popularity. 

He earned a B.A. in Music from California State University at Northridge. Zanuck has performed around the world, and has won awards such as 1st place in the 1987 National Songwriting Contest, Nā Hōkū Hanohano's Best Contemporary Album, Best Jazz Album, and was also nominated for the Best Hawaiian Language Performance

'Ukulele Hale is a unique and creative music school founded by Jody Kamisato in 2007. Nestled in the heart of Kaimuki on the island of O'ahu, 'Ukulele Hale brings individuals both young and old together to learn the beautiful and captivating art of playing the ukulele. With talented and passionate instructors, everyone from beginner to expert can find their perfect place here. Students have gone on to achieve wonderful successes such as winning major competitions, releasing albums, and touring around the world spreading the joy of music, ‘ukulele and the aloha spirit!

Kimo Hussey is one of Hawaiʻi’s preeminent ukulele players and instructors. He travels the world performing, teaching and sharing his love of all things ʻukulele. 

Kalei and Cory, world-class musicians showcasing individual artistry and incredible synergy as a duo.

 One of Hawaiʻi’s premiere bassists, is also known as a jazz composer and educator. As the leader of the Honolulu Jazz Quartet, John composed eight tunes on the group’s debut CD Sounds of the City, which was released nationally.  In 2023 Honolulu Jazz Quartet’s “Straight Ahead” wins Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award for Jazz Album of the Year!  

Born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi, 13 year old Kris Fuchigami began his musical journey with an old beat up ʻukulele in his hands and a strong desire to master that tiny little instrument.

2 years later Kris won the grand prize at the Hamakua Music Scholarship Competition on the Big Island where he competed against classical pianists, singers, drummers, and many other genres of musicians. Kris went on to headline, and perform at many ʻukulele festivals and has gained recognition throughout the world.

In 2016 he was nominated for the prestigious Nā Hōkū Hanohano  Award in Hawaiʻi for the Instrumental Composition of the Year category with his original composition of Moemoea, which he was inspired to write during a performing tour in Tahiti.

In 2018, he was again nominated for the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards for the ʻUkulele Album of the Year Category with his album entitled "More Than This."

Kris was awarded the Nā Hōkū Hanohano  Award for "Instrumental Composition of the Year" in 2019, 2021, and 2023!

'Ukulele Puapua is a local 'ukulele business that’s all about sharing our love for Hawaiian culture through our amazing performers, unique, handmade ;ukuleles, and original T-shirts. 

"Mika Kane is a professional 'ukulele artist/teacher from O'ahu, Hawai’i. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Music with an 'Ukulele focus and a Masters Degree in Educational Foundations from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. As an educator following in the footsteps of his mentor Dr. Byron Yasui, Mika teaches online 'ukulele as a lecturer at The University of Hawai'i West O'ahu and Windward Community College. He also teaches private online lessons full-time with students from all over the world. In his free time, he does professional sound samples, podcasts, and other side work for TheUkuleleSite and UkuleleFriend.
